Blue Catapult Announces Support for 3 Candidates
Wednesday, March 1, 2006

Darcy Burner is running against incumbent Republican Dave Reichert in the 8th Congressional District in Washington State. Darcy has worked in the high tech industry, including positions at Microsoft, where she headed the Microsoft women's organization, Hoppers. She is running on a platform that includes a Woman's right to choose, investing in the environment, and fully implementing the recommendations by the 9/11 Commission.

Eric Massa, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, is running against Republican incumbent Randy Kuhl in New York's 29th Congressional District. Eric spent a career in the Navy, serving on nine ships and working during operations in Beirut and Desert Storm. He was a Special Assistant for Congressional Affairs for then-Supreme Allied Commander General Wesley Clark. If elected, Eric wants to give current members of the military and veterans the benefits and compensation they deserve. He wants to reform Social Security by making sure that those who are in the system get what they have been promised, and to have higher income earners pay their fair share into Social Security.

Chris Carney is running against Republican Don Sherwood in Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District. An Associate Professor at Penn State, Chris is also a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserves and has served overseas. Chris Has a plan to win in Iraq and leave with honor, explaining that a U.S. battalion should return home for every Iraqi battalion that is activated. Chris wants to focus our defense resources on real homeland security, especially front-line responders such as police and medical personnel. He also supports policies to make the U.S. less dependent on fossil fuels, and he wants to reform health care so that the 45 million uninsured Americans will get healthcare benefits.

At the Blue Catapult Launch Event on March 8th, a large portion of our contributions from that night went to these Democratic challengers' campaigns. These are the type of candidates and races which, if funded, can become very competitive and will give the Democrats the chance to gain the Majority in Congress.

Blue Catapult will help other worthy Democratic Challengers in the future.
